This striking 2004 se-tenant stamp pair from Argentina was issued as part of the UPAEP environmental protection series, highlighting the rapid decline of the country’s native forests. The stamps illustrate the reduction of Argentina’s native forest area from approximately 106 million hectares in 1914 to 33 million hectares in 2004. Each stamp carries a 75-cent denomination, and the horizontal pair features a distinctive die-cut opening through the second stamp, symbolically representing the loss and disappearance of native forests through deforestation. The innovative design combines philately with an important environmental message.
