This historic 20 Poul postage stamp was issued by Postes Afghanes (Afghan Post) on March 21, 1951, featuring one of the monumental Bamiyan Buddha statues carved into the cliffs of central Afghanistan. Printed in black and white by Waterlow & Sons Limited of London, the stamp showcases one of Afghanistan’s most significant archaeological and cultural landmarks. As an early Afghan issue depicting the Bamiyan Buddhas, it represents both the country’s postal history and the enduring cultural importance of the ancient Bamiyan site.
