This commemorative replica ingot reproduces Afghanistan’s first postage stamp, the famous 1871 “Tiger’s Head” (1 Shahi) issued during the reign of Amir Sher Ali Khan. The design features a stylized tiger or lion head surrounded by Arabic script within a circular frame, presented on a distinctive diamond-shaped plate. The stamp was recreated by the Franklin Mint in 1979 as part of its “The World’s First Stamps” collection. Struck in .925 sterling silver and finished with a heavy 24-karat gold overlay, the replica weighs approximately 17.3–17.4 grams, combining the historical significance of early Afghan philately with the craftsmanship of a commemorative precious-metal collectible.
